Siesta I South Walsham Outer Broad - 7 Sep 1965

Siesta I in the early morning mist.

After the 1963 Llangollen Canal holiday, that had for her been a major trial, Mother said "No more boating holidays!". However, whilst in Norfolk in 1964, a look through the cabin windows of a boat called, I recall, "Panther", seen moored at a Horning boatyard made her see that boating needn't be the cramped nightmare that life aboard Margaret had been. Panther had a full sized domestic stove with an oven, and its beam allowed much more room to move around.

1965, then, took the family to the Broads on what was to be the last holiday which the whole family took together. "Siesta I" came from Richardson's yard at Stalham and is seen here as the mist clears from South Walsham Outer Broad on the morning of 7 September.
